Open 1st February to 30th November, Glencairn House is a family run Bed and Breakfast located mid-way between Arisaig and Morar, just off the scenic B8008 coastal road. The beautiful Camusdarach Beach ('Ben's Beach' of 'Local Hero' fame) is only a short walk away. The house has recently been extended to offer en-suite facilities in all rooms and we have added a guest lounge and breakfast-room. A variety of wildlife, which includes stags, eagles and numerous smaller birds, may be viewed from the patio which adjoins the breakfast-room.
The house is ideally placed for a short stay, prior to travelling further afield, or a longer stay to enjoy all the area has to offer.
Glencairn is situated in 35 acres of private land over which our guests are free to wander and is suitable for dog walking. We offer en-suite accommodation in three rooms:
- Room 1 - A ground floor en-suite room with a standard double bed. The en-suite has a bath and shower.
- Room 2 - A ground floor en-suite room with a standard double bed and single bed. The en-suite has a shower.
- Room 3 - A first floor en-suite room with an east-facing private balcony. The room has a king-size double bed. The en-suite has a shower.
Ample free parking is available. Tea and coffee with home-made baking are provided for guests on arrival. The residents' lounge has satellite TV and there is free access to WiFi for those who wish to keep in touch.
Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities are provided in each room.
Dogs are welcome and stay free of charge.
Though Mallaig, Morar and Arisaig have a number of restaurants and hotels catering to most tastes, we also have a barbecue which guests may wish to use in the guest garden for a more relaxed evening.
- Room 1 - Ground floor standard double en-suite room: Single £45 or Double £65.
- Room 2 - Ground floor standard double, twin or triple en-suite room : Double £70, Twin £75, Triple £90.
- Room 3 - First floor King-size double en-suite room with private balcony: Double £75.
All rates include a choice of breakfast from our extensive menu of a full Scottish breakfast, local specialities or lighter options for those who prefer. Home-made jams and preserves are also available. Should you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know.
Pets are equally welcome and stay free of charge. (A donation box for the SSPCA is available). We can provide dog-beds and crates if required. Dogs are allowed in public rooms (if all guests agree) and bedrooms. Canine guests are welcome to be walked on the surrounding land. If you can't leave your pony at home it's no problem as grazing is available.
We have our own dogs at Glencairn House. We realise not all guests enjoy the company of dogs and so keep ours away from the house and garden when guests are here.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to answer them.
We also offer self catering accommodation in our a centrally-heated and double-glazed static caravan which is equipped for 6 people.
It is let by the week (Saturday to Saturday) during the season (Easter to October) - please call or email to ask about availability.
