Glenfinnan | The world-renowned story of Bonnie Prince Charlie 's fight for the British throne gathered momentum at Glenfinnan where he raised the Jacobite standard and rallied his clansmen for battle.
Mallaig | At the end of the ‘Romantic Road to the Isles’ and the West Highland Railway Line lies Mallaig, just over an hour from Fort William. To go further afield, board one of the ferries either to Skye or to the Small Isles of Muck, Eigg, Rum and Canna.
Morar | As the Atlantic Ocean rolls in past the Small Isles, its azure shallows tumble on to sparkling white beaches which have long lured photographers and film-makers – none more so than the stretches from Traigh Beach to the silver sands of Morar where 'Local Hero' and 'Highlander' were filmed.
Arisaig | This is the area where the renowned west coast sunset can be enjoyed at its best. There can be no more magical sight than the sun as it disappears behind the islands in a riot of pink, red and purple, setting the mountains of Rum and Skye ablaze with colour.
Lochailort | Loch Ailort cuts its way in from the Ardnamurchan peninsula. The loch, with its clean and sheltered waters was where Scottish fish farming was pioneered. Just a mile further north at Polnish the road passes the old white church which was used in the film 'Local Hero'.
The Small Isles | Unlike many groups each island is distinct and different in geography, agronomy, population and ownership. From Muck in the south, through Eigg with its tooth-like Sgurr, and Rum, mountainous and mysterious in the clouds, to Canna in the north, the Islands offer a wonderful variety of scenery, wildlife and lifestyle.
Knoydart | The Knoydart peninsula is only accessible by boat from Mallaig or by a 20 mile hike on foot. A wonderful area for walking and camping, this is truly a miles-from-anywhere, get-away-from-it-all place. The Old Forge has the accolade of being the most remote pub in mainland Britain

Events

Each year the following events take place: Arisaig Highland Games (last Wednesday of July), Mallaig & Morar Highland Games (first Sunday in August), Glenfinnan Gathering (19 August 2017), as well as the annual Road to the Isles Show (10 June 2017).
Other events during 2017 include the Loch Shiel Festival (20 - 23 April), Half Marathon (29 April), Wild Lochaber Festival (May), Morar Gala Day (27 May), Isle of Muck Open Day (11 June), Arisaig Village Picnic (25 June), Feis Eigg (5-7 July), Small Isles Games (22 July on Rum), Mallaig Maritime Day (22 July), Annual craft fair at Astley Hall Arisaig (25 July), Knoydart Games (5 August), The Road to the Isles Triathlon (10 September), Feis na Mara (October), Christmas craft fair at Astley Hall, Arisaig (November).
2017 sees the 20th anniversary of the community buyout of the Isle of Eigg. This will be celebrated with events on 12th June and also with the annual ceilidh on 17th June.
A Write Highland Hoolie, Mallaig's Book Festival which began in 2016 will run again from 10 to 12 November 2017.

The Road to the Isles Food and Drink Festival (September) was very successful in 2016 and it is hoped to run it again for 2017.

The Knoydart Foundation Ranger Service offers guided walks which are designed to fit in between ferries so you can come for a day trip from Mallaig. Please contact them in advance to check before making your journey - tel: 01687 462242. The Rangers are also available for tailor-made guided walks, wildlife walks and team-building events.

Thursday night is Quiz Night at the Morar Hotel - starts at 8pm in Morar Bar (£1 per person, maximum 4 per team).
The Chlachain Inn in Mallaig also has a Quiz night on Thursdays.
Thursday is music night at the Glenfinnan House Hotel from 9pm in the bar.
Friday night is music night in the Arisaig Hotel Crofters Rest bar, so bring an instrument if you have one and join in.
The Arisaig Acoustic Music Club showcases live folk music with monthly gigs at the Arisaig Hotel.

Local produce fairs with food, plants, crafts & gifts are held at Astley Hall in Arisaig with a soup & sandwich lunch every month over the summer usually on the third Thursday (April - September).

The Mallaig and Morar Craft Fayre (with Soup and Sandwiches) is held on various Sundays in the Mallaig & Morar Community Centre (30 April, 4 June, 9 July, 6 August, 3 September, 2 December 2017)..
