The stairway to the upper floor is particularly steep and may not be suitable for all guests. The two reception rooms downstairs have views over the bay and incorporate many original features. The Kylesmorar Experience
Whether you decide to take a leisurely stroll along the shore, stopping to search amongst the rock pools, traversing Tarbet Glen to Loch Morar or undertake the more challenging prospect of one of the area's Munros or spectacular ridge walks, the stunning mountain landscape surrounding Kylesmorar is hard to resist. On the quieter days, it may be possible to take a trip on an estate boat into the upper regions of the loch or to check the Kylesmorar lobster pots for supper. For the less energetic; take time to enjoy a long lie and a leisurely breakfast before taking a walk down to the shore to search for mussels for your lunch. Fresh vegetables and free range eggs may be available from the kitchen garden by arrangement with estate staff. For the afternoon, settle down with a book in front of the fire for a quiet afternoon as your dinner slowly roasts in the oven. Weather permitting, the Estate boat can take you to Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula to enjoy an exhilarating walk of the surrounding area and/or have lunch at one of the remotest public houses in Britain, before returning in the afternoon to Kylesmorar on the MV Western Isles. "Coming back across the loch after a three hour hike and seeing the thin column of smoke from the chimney and knowing that soon we'd be warm and cosy by the fire was the highlight of our trip" |
